What we do at a Woodland Nurseryโ€ฆ

At Treehoppers Forest Kindergarten children will be able to see and feel the changes in the seasons, run and explore, play with sticks, build dens, jump in puddles, get muddy, use their imagination and above all .....HAVE FUN! In an age where it can sometimes feel that technology and screens are all encompassing we want to encourage some wild learning.

More and more schools and early years settings are offering a weekly forest school session, but a fully outdoor Forest Kindergarten is new for Mid Sussex. Of course the Scandanavians have been educating young children in this way for decades and often in arctic conditions.Closer to home though, outdoor nurseries are now popping up more and more and before opening Treehoppers we were able to visit some of these amazing outdoor settings to see the concept in action. We are hugely grateful to Free Range Urban Kids in Hackney, Rain or Shine in Tonbridge and Forest Kindergarten Sevenoaks for making us so welcome and for their advice & encouragement. We are very excited to be able to provide early years education in an outdoor classroom that is constantly changing with natural resources to inspire the children.
